Palestine

Image
I follow a lot of international media outlets and what surprises me the most is how everyone seems to ignore what’s happening in Palestine and how we stand and watch as Israel kills Palestinians and erases day by day their land’s history. Just yesterday I was reading that due to Israel imposing an apartheid state, patients in Palestine’s territory are dying because they can’t get medical attention or vital medications that they need. How can Israel say that they aren’t committing genocide against Palestinians? How can they ask from Palestinians to accept a foreign state imposed in their own territory? I understand this is a sensitive topic because the fact that these illegal settlements were imposed under the belief of Judaism has made room for a lot of anti semitism around the world. What we need to understand is that 1. Not every Jewish person is a Zionist and 2. The lives of innocent people are worth a trillion times more than the belief of a “sacred” land. I wish to see dur...

Best concert I've been to: Harry Styles

Image
Last year when Harry Styles released his first album as a solo artist, I decided to check him out. I knew he used to be in One Direction but I was never really into them so I knew very little about Harry. Once I listened to his album, he quickly became one of my favorite artists and when he announced he was coming to Chile, I saved money and bought a ticket. I saw him this year on May 25th, and it was the best show I’ve ever been to. The show was at Movistar Arena and I had a ticket on the pit. It’d been a while since I’d been to a concert and I’d never been on my own, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I ended up having more than a good time and meeting many wonderful people who I danced and sang with. Harry is a really great performer and certainly knows how to entertain a crowd; he danced, joked, and he spoke a lot of Spanish to us. He even used Chilean slang like “bacán” and “la raja”, which was so funny to hear from him.

A country I'd like to visit

Image
I would love to visit Canada, specifically the city of Toronto. I like the balance between old and modern architecture that this city has. I also like its accessibility; it’s near to other places that I’d like to visit like Niagara Falls, and since it’s so close to the border with the United States, you can make a somewhat quick trip to a city like New York. One of the most popular buildings in Toronto is the CN Tower, which is 533 meters tall and one of the tallest towers in the world. Toronto also has different skyscrapers that go up to 300 meters tall all around the city. I really like these kind of buildings so I would love to visit and see them with my own eyes. I think I’d love to live in this city. Canada is one of the most educated countries in the world; it’s years ahead of Chile in terms of women’s and LGBT rights. Also, every September it hosts one of the most important film festivals in the world: the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which I’d very much...
